Step by Step Floral Wedding Centerpiece for the Perfect Wedding
This is the actual centerpiece that I used for my summer wedding. Here is each step I took to make it all happen. White roses and a tall vase add to the elegance of the reception. The glow from the LED lights give the wedding a soft ambiance at night.

Step 1: Flowers
The first thing you need to do is book a florist for your big day. Looking around and finding the best quality, along with price, will save you money in the long run. Step 1 can be done by a florist (which will make it easier on the bride) or can be done yourself (which is what I did). First, I made a sketch of what I wanted first. I wanted the green filler plants, baby's breath, and mums to all be white and to be closer together. I really wanted the white roses to stick out, so I didn't cut them too short. I also just wanted a few strands of ivy coming down. To place inside the stem of the vase, I ordered two strands of Dendrobium orchids for every centerpiece.
Step 2: Ordering/ Buying Accessories
You may have to shop around to find the perfect vase. I wanted something that was tall enough to provide elegance and at the same time be high enough, so people could talk and see comfortably around the table. A popular vase is the Eiffel tower. I found something similar, except the vase I found was wide enough to fit glass stones and orchids in. I ordered my vases from a polish bakery in Chicago, IL. The website is www.oakmillbakery.com . To make sure the flowers are secure on the vase, you need to buy separate glass bowls. If you look at the picture, you can see what I am referring to, the bowl is right underneath the flowers. I also bought clear glass beads and the florist foam, which are cheap and can be found in the arts and crafts department at Wal-Mart. You can purchase small LED lights online (typically cheaper) or through your florist. These LED lights add an amazing glow when the sun goes down. They can be used in water as long as you put plastic wrap over them.
Step 3: Preparation
Now that you have everything ordered, you can now begin the assembly process. Cut out two cardboard circles, which should be the size of the opening of the vase. Glue the circles to the bottom of the glass bowls. Now you can place the glass bowl with the circles inside the vase. This will secure the flowers are on the top and will prevent them from tipping over. The circles act as a stopper does on a bottle of wine. For now, take the glass bowls off and fill the vases evenly with the glass stones. Cut the florist foam into a square, which is small enough to fit inside my glass bowl.
Step 4: Assembly
It is the night before your big day and it is time to start putting together your centerpieces. The LED lights work for 24 hours, but they are only a one time use. So you pull the tab and that activates the light. You then put plastic wrap around it and use an iron to seal it shut. Drop the light into the vase and in between the clear glass beads. Fill the vases up with water and place the orchids into the vase. Next, place the glass bowl on top and now you can wait till the big day to place your floral arrangements into the glass bowl. If you had a florist prepare your flowers, your job is done. If you are doing the flowers yourself, you must first soak the foam in water for about 30 minutes. Cut the roses to the length you want and place them evenly around the foam. Next, fill in with the mums, baby's breath, and green filler plants. If you want to add some final touches, you can put a circle mirror under to reflect the light and five small candles around the mirror. Wedding centerpiece complete!
