Crystal Renn Plus Size Model Has Pictures Photoshopped to Make Her Thinner
Crystal Renn, a whopping size 10, is a plus size model who is upset because a photographer photoshopped her pics into a skinnier version. There is more to the story, however. Read on to find out what.
First of all, Ms Renn is a size 10. To us normal women, this is not a plus size woman. I actually take offense to her being called a plus size woman. She isn't. She is an average size woman, but in the fashion industry, anyone who isn't anorexic looking is not seen as model worthy and that is so damn scary. More and more young girls and boys are being diagnosed with eating disorders and think they need to look almost skeletal to be attractive. Who sends out this screwed up message? The fashion industry and to some extent, Hollywood.
Ms Renn tells us that she did have a problem with anorexia and bulimia when she first started out in the modeling world. She struggled to stay at a size that was not natural to her and she paid dearly for it with her health. Luckily, she was one who saw the error of her ways and found help for herself before it killed her. She did admit to recently losing some weight but says that it is due to the fact that she is now exercising again. During the time she was bulimic, she would exercise as much as 8 hours a day. She states that she feels she is mentally healthy enough to incorporate exercise back into her daily regimen, but only to keep her body healthy, not for weight loss.
The photographer who did the retouching does not apologize for what he did. He just stated that it was no more than anyone else would do in his profession. I would like to get my fat size 12 hands on him. When are we going to stop this craziness? At one end of the spectrum we have obese kids who sit in front of video games all day and don't even know how to use their own imaginations to play outside and make up their own worlds to play in. And the other end are the little, tiny things who don't want to eat because they want to look like the people they see in magazines and on television. We have warped our children's minds almost beyond repair and we as parents need to take this craziness in hand and fix it.
Health should be the emphasis, not skeletal bodies. Playing outside in the fresh air should be encouraged, not being zombified in front of the television with video games. Does anyone even remember how to play pretend anymore?
Ok, I ranted, but really, a size 10 is plus size? Come on Ladies, you know this is absolute craziness and unless we start standing up and saying something about it, they will continue to warp our children's minds. Let's do something about it!! Stop buying from designers who use skinny models. That should hurt them where their hearts are; in their wallets. Ms Renn worked for Dolce and Gabbana so they are good. I am sure there are other designer's out there who used her, also, but that is just a start. We could also stop buying the fashion magazine's that won't put a curvy girl on the cover. There are many ways to get our message across.
Don't you think it's time we women do something about all this craziness? It is time for a curvy girl revolution!
