Tips on How to Look Good in Swimwear
As the snow falls outside my bay window a thought occurs to me. Summer is only a few weeks away. The next thought is 'Oh no, bathing suit season is shortly upon us!' As dread sets in I remembered that it's going to be okay.
Tip # 1:
Know your body type and understand it's limitations. Very few of us have perfect bodies and understanding that and picking clothes that may cover up those unliked areas and accentuate those assets we all have, will make summer more enjoyable.
I hear the word swimsuit and automatically think, 'bikini', one piece's are not the same. But there are many very flattering one pieces out there. Some show more back some are tighter around the tummy. Others show your sides which make longer torsos look flattering and hide those other areas. Still others show more cleavage. If you want to show off those legs wear a higher cut or if you don't like those legs where a skirt bottom or sarong. Many beautiful ladies wear one piece's and still get the attention they secretly enjoy.
If you are set on wearing a bikini there are many options there as well. If you aren't happy with your stomach wear a halter top bikini. This shows a little bit of skin but still covers the areas that make you feel self conscious.
Large on top: wear something with enough coverage that shows a little cleavage. Support is always good for big busted woman. Halters and one pieces are good, but depending how busty you are you will want to make sure you still see the other curves like your waist when the swimsuit is on.
Small on top: you want something that pushes up and creates cleavage. If you don't like the cleavage, never fear you can wear the strapless tops or the bandana tops that are still very flirty.
Skinny waist: make sure you have something that accentuates that curve. One pieces with the sides cut out are good for skinny waists with long torsos. Short torsos are a little more tricky depending on your bust, small bust you can easily pull off a one piece or two piece. Large bust the one piece is a little bit harder.
Larger waist: one pieces or halter top two pieces. Stay away from prints which will only add attention to your trouble areas. choose colors depending on your skin tone. Paler skin tone needs brighter colors and darker can look good in both.
Long legs: wear boy shorts or skirt bottoms these are flirty and sexy.
Short legs: wear a higher cut thigh to lengthen your legs. Vertical stripes can also make you look longer.
No curves or waist: wear a belted waistline one piece or two piece with fun stuff around your waist to give the illusion you have a waist.
Plus size figure: show skin in the right places and stay away from prints. You are super sexy too.
All of these will be trial and error because your body type may not be the typical small busted or typical short legged woman. That is okay. Don't be afraid to mix these tips up until you find the right concoction for your body.
Tip # 2:
When you pick out clothes go shopping with a trusted friend. One that will be honest with you on the clothes you are trying out. A second opinion always builds confidence. I usually take my fiancé. He has no problem telling me that looks bad. But he pours on the accolades when we find something that looks great.
Whoever you choose you need to remember that you can't take constructive criticism personally. Remember you asked them there to help you pick the right outfit not sugar coat it for you.
Tip # 3:
Be proud! Whether you are 105 pounds or 300 confidence is 80% of the battle. If you walk out there and show confidence that is what people will notice, not what color your yellow polka dot bikini was. If you hid behind items, not join in because you are worried what you will look like, or feel uncomfortable most people will notice this and that is not what you are looking for. Stand proud and say it loud, 'I am beautiful!' just saying this puts a smile on my face even when I don't feel my best.
Tip # 4:
Keep your body in good shape or health by eating right and exercising. This will make you feel good about yourself and remind you that while you are not happy with some part of your body you are still actively working to fix it. This also helps you to feel confident as mentioned above because no matter what you feel good about yourself!
Tip # 5:
Have fun! It is summer time and you should enjoy the great outdoors. I have always been an outdoor girl but when I started to loose faith in my body and dislike my shape I suddenly morphed into an indoor girl. This didn't make me happy and one day I woke up. I realized I was in my 30's and I wasn't going to be a size 2 unless I wanted to dedicate hours at the gym and my schedule didn't allow this, so I did the research I am sharing with you now and started to realize I could feel good about myself and have fun no matter what size I was.
