Aqua Teen Hunger Force Season 3 on DVD
A review of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim series, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Season Three on DVD, including an episode guide.
1. Frat Aliens- Comedian Patton Oswalt provides the voice of a frat boy alien who crashes into Carl's house, which has an elaborate security system to stop the Force from coming over and using his pool. While the frat aliens try to hit on Meatwad and Frylock (thinking they are women), one of them is left behind and bothers everyone with his rude behavior. Frylock builds a rocket to blow him into space, much to the chagrin of Master Shake, who wants to keep on partying.
2. Total Recarl- Frylock's new invention, a super sonic toilet, appeals to Carl's baser needs but the overwhelming force of the flush destroys Carl's body and leaves only the head. Frylock, Master Shake, and Meatwad try to use different bodies to bring back Carl (including an old black corpse, a Tonka truck, and a super weapon) with various results.
3. Kidney Car- After Master Shake's joy ride in Carl's car, the Kidney Foundation gives it to Meatwad. Meatwad tries to get it repaired (and gets ripped off by a mechanic) and Master Shake tries to convince everyone that he has a job that requires him to use the car.
4. Revenge of the Trees- Master Shake gets a massive deep fryer and refuses to get rid of the old grease properly, instead dumping it in a forest with Carl. Little does he know that the Tree Court holds Carl prisoner and holds a trial for Shake for crimes against nature (including a hilarious scene where he tries to convince the trees that he is not an adult).
5. The Cloning- When Shake destroys yet another television, he discovers that Frylock has been using a cloning machine to keep a television in the house at all times. Shake's abuse of the cloning machine feeds Frylock's greedier side and the two are pitted against one another over copying dollar bills.
6. Broodwich- Frylock convinces Master Shake and Meatwad that there is gold underneath the house, instead hoping for them to dig holes for his "disgusting azaleas," as Shake calls them. Instead, Shake finds a sandwich made by the Devil himself, but his plan to send Shake to Hell does not work when Shake refuses to eat the sun dried tomatoes.
7. The Dressing- As the Force and Carl (who chooses to eat outside) sit down for Thanksgiving dinner (including taco pie), they are visited once again by the Cybernetic Ghost, a turkey who appeared in a past episode at Christmas. His convoluted stories, drunken tirades, and general rudeness fit right in with the Force but even their limited patience is tested.
8. The- After another household mishap by Shake, Frylock decides to move out on his own. However, he discovers that he has no other friends (mostly because he is a box of French Fries), that his dinner party is a failure, and that Shake and Meatwad are helpless without his common sense help.
9. The Cubing- The Force discovers the Knowledge Cube in their front lawn, but discover that the extent of his knowledge is bumper sticker wisdom and pulling pranks with Shake. In the end, his brother, another "wisdom cube" comes down to pick him up and pulls a prank on Frylock.
10. The Last One- An episode featuring all of the past villains and creatures that the Force has come across, brought together by the Mooninites on the moon. Their efforts to destroy the Force lose steam, however, when they aren't able to agree on an appropriate name or action against the Force.
11. The Clowning- Carl tries to improve himself by getting a curly wig and is successful briefly, including picking up an unattractive woman. But the wig is too good to be true and is a plot by the Clown Society to turn him and anyone near him into a clown. Carl eventually turns into clown, along with Meatwad.
12. Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary- In one of the funnier episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Master Shake tries to remake the birthday song, creating a convoluted song with Zach Wylde called "Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary." Even though Frylock and Meatwad frown upon the song, he tries to recoup expenses from the making of the song to disastrous results.
13. The Shaving- On Halloween, the Force discovers that they have a monster living in their attic (an onion shaped spider named Willie Nelson). His "frightening" gimmick is to say "shaving" while holding up an electric razor. Shake tries to mentor him to become a more horrifying beast but fails in his effort to scare Carl (except when he throws Meatwad at him without warning).
Special Features: Aside from the usually strong array of deleted scenes, extras, and behind the scenes stuff jammed into this set, the best special feature is the karaoke version of Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary, allowing the viewer to relive that song over and over, at parties and alone.
