The Big Team Rivals
Blazer and his school swimming team are visiting Upper crust Academy for a swim tournament.
Blazer put his swim suit on and grabbed a towel from the closet door knob. Blazer wrapped it around his waist. The boys ran down the hall to the stairs. Blazer dropped his sweat suit and tried to pick it up. " Forget it." Glen said " just wear your swim suit." Blazer blushed. " The boys ran out of the old dormitory building and walked across the campus passed the statue of the school's founder. The other students laughed at the two boys " Put a shirt on!" called one of the girls. Blazer ignored this comment. "Where's the beef!" another girl named Buffy yelled.The boys ran passed the green quad area and onto the pool deck.
Coach Solano was wearing her blue one piece racing suit and red shorts. She was timing the laps of the other swimmers. Coach looked at the two boys. " Your both late and sweaty," she said "Go take a shower and be back in five minutes." They went into the boys locker and came back out five minutes later dripping wet covered by their towels. Coach blew her whistle. "Okay," she said " now I want you all to practice the IM medley relay" She looked at Blazer and Glen." And I want you two to swim laps," she pointed to two separate lanes in the deep section. " Get in the water."
Practice lasted for two hours. Coach finished the session by having the team practice dives. "Alright gather around," coach waved her arm. " I want to give you your event schedule for the meet," coach flipped a page on her clipboard. Blazer would swim the 200m and the 500m back stroke, his best events. Glen was the anchor for the 1500m IM relay. coach blew her whistle. " lunchtime everyone," she said " and be back for our last practice in two hours." Coach grabbed Blazer and Glen's arms. "Not you two," she said " your running laps on the track during lunch." She smiled. "In your swim suits." The boys groaned. "And don't be late for practice."
The boys ran the track for two hours. They were just in time to take a quick shower before meeting the team. Blazer and Glen came out on the pool deck dripping wet. They forgot to take their towels with them. Coach ordered the team into the pool for a timed swim. The rivals from Upper crust Academy came in laughing at the swimmers in the pool. Aunt Claudia (known as Aunt Clod by Blazer and Sis) arrived and took her place in the VIP section. Aunt Claudia was the head mistress of the school. She believed her school was far superior in all academics and athletics. She believed everyone else was inferior.
The swim meet started with the introduction of the visiting team from New World Academy. The audience booed everyone on the team. But, when the swimmers from Upper crust were introduced everyone cheered. Even Aunt Claudia stood and cheered her team. The meet began with a victory for the Upper crust team in the 50m free style, and a win for Blazer in the backstroke. It was the first of his three gold medals that evening. The team won the meet by defeating Upper crust in the 1500 IM medley relay. This disgusted Aunt Claudia so much, that she left the meet before it ended " riff-raff," she said while leaving.
