Where to Find Clothes and Shoes for Tall Girls
Are you a tall girl who is tired of not being able to find pants long enough and shoes big enough? Read on for some helpful, proven advice!
Over the years I've formulated a list of my "go-to" stores that are not necessarily guaranteed to have what I'm looking for, but at least the odds are in my favor when I walk in. If you're shopping for a tall girl, take a look at the links below. Happy shopping!
Over the last few years, OLD NAVY, BANANA REPUBLIC and GAP have started including long inseams for selected items on their websites. I have yet to see a wide selection, if any at all, of the long inseams in their stores, but being able to order online is better than nothing!
OLD NAVY offers a Long 34-inch inseam as well as a Tall 36-inch inseam. Their Tall Collection, available only online, also includes sweaters, dresses, skirts, tees, camis etc.
BANANA REPUBLIC offers a Tall 36-inch inseam as well as an entire collection of tops with longer sleeve lengths, dresses and skirts with tall proportions, they even have tights long enough! Check out the Tall Fit Guide on their website to measure what you need in tops and bottoms. Again, the Tall Collection is only available online.
GAP's Tall Collection is for women 5'9" and over and includes Ts amp; Camis, Shirts amp; Tops, Hoodies amp; Sweaters, Dresses amp; Skirts, Capris amp; Shorts, Pants amp; Jeans and Outerwear.
The best pair of jeans I've ever owned were Silvers and I wore them until the holes became inappropriate. I found a great pair at a Buckle store with a 35" inseam that fit perfectly, I should have bought 5 pairs because I can't find the same style anymore. I currently own two different pairs of Silver jeans and both are also very comfortable and have plenty of length. The Silver website isn't great, so if you can find Silver Jeans in a retail store that's your best bet. Usually The Buckle sells them and I've also seen them in the Tall Girl retail stores as well as some department stores.
Finding shoes definitely rivals the hunt for good jeans. If you're a tall girl who likes to wear high fashion, brand name shoes, good luck! Top designers have a thing against big feet. However, if you're like me and you're just looking for something with a small heel (2 inches or less PLEASE!) that is at least somewhat comfortable and fits then keep reading.
DSW is a great shoe store and they have locations all over the country. Because they are a warehouse store, they have tons of shoes to choose from. You won't find a lot of shoes in anything above size 10, but with so many options, you're bound to find at least a couple of pairs to choose from. The nice thing about DSW having so many locations is that you can ask them to call other stores to check for your size. I've never seen anything over size 11 at a DSW. Don't forget to check the clearance section hidden in the back of each DSW store - their size 10 Up; section is hit or miss. Some stores will carry an actual Size 11 clearance section.
Zappos is an online only retail location that has a huge shoe selection as well as clothing and accessories. My favorite thing about Zappos is the ability to search for my size and then order shoes with FREE shipping! When the odds are not good that something you order online is actually going to fit you, it is definitely a bonus to skip the shipping cost. It gets better, you have 365 days to return any unworn merchandise and your return shipping is also FREE! They have great customer service and, like I said, a huge selection and big sizes.
Don't overlook Payless Shoes! They're a great standby for a cheap, but cute pair of shoes. Some Payless retail locations do carry up to size 12 in women's shoes but some only go up to size 11. Check their website for availability if you can't find anything at a retail store near you. If you want to save on shipping here, have the shoes shipped to your nearest Payless location for FREE.
I just heard about Barefoottess a couple of weeks ago and haven't purchased anything here yet. The website says it is carries women's size 11 - size 15 shoes for "fashion-conscious women everywhere." Your price point is definitely higher here but if you like fashion price point is not always a factor. Check it out.
