After the Tim Couch debacle, Cleveland again had the first pick in 2000 and selected Penn State defensive end Courtney Brown. In Cleveland's defense, Brown did have injury issues, but they still should have known better drafting a Penn State alum.
Ki-Jana Carter - 1995 - Speaking of drafting Penn State alum's, Cincinnati made that mistake during the 1995 NFL draft as they selected Carter first overall. Carter also had some injury issues, but when you're drafted first overall, it's tough to look past that. Carter rushed for a grand total of 1,144 yards during his career which was spent with three teams.
Alex Smith - 2005 - The big decision was whether to take Utah's Smith or California quarterback Aaron Rodgers. I think we all know how this one turned out. Smith has had some moments of brilliance, but they are so few and far in between, it is highly doubtful he will live up to his number one pick billing. Smith has thrown for 51 TD passes in his career so far, compared to 53 picks.
